Time Enough To Write?

Writing is not a strong point of mine. I did not take up painting so I would get to write. So why bother? A great artist could just let his painting speak for themselves. I'm not a great artist. Actually, I'm not a great technician. Art is telling the story. T Scott Sayer was a labor muralist who I apprenticed under. Our job was telling the story.

I'm reminded of Mark Rothkos paintings. He paints squares. That is what he does. He wanted to make art that would move a person to tears, like a beautiful piece of music. It did move people to tears. People who knew his story. Most of us just see squares. I paint squares too. Just squares with plants and animals in them.

So what will my story be? I don't know, hence the blog. I do know I love nature. All humans do at some level. My job is to remind them. Not an easy task anymore. We are a distracted lot. An easily distracted lot. Our jobs, as artist, has become next to impossible. So I want to distract you too. Distract you from the Kardashian reality and insane culture wars, to tell stories about high mountain deserts, trying to keep centuries old crafts alive, discover new stories, and if I can get there, to slow you down enough to just feel gratitude for our planet.

Close to three years and my "Notes" or blog has only seen 23 reads. Thanks family. My 4 month old view YouTube post with only 5 views...
